Griggs Capital Strategies: Behind the Scenes
The Inside Scoop Behind the Origin of GCS

In the Spring of 2016, CEO of Griggs Capital Strategies met the author of the break-out financial text Becoming Your Own Banker R. Nelson Nash. At the time, Ryan intended to become a Professor of Economics specializing in a particular style of economic thought called “The Austrian School.”
After completing his Bachelors and Masters degrees in Economics at California State University, East Bay, Ryan enrolled in a Ph.D. program in Agricultural and Applied Economics at Texas Tech University with full-funding and a Research Assistant appointment with the Free Market Institute (FMI). At the time, Nelson Nash Institute co-founder Dr. Robert Murphy served as Visiting Assistant Research Professor at the FMI.
Ryan successfully completed one year of the Ph.D. program up through and including passing “comprehensive exams” in the highly mathematical fields of econometrics and microeconomics. Passing “comps” – as they’re known in the academic world – is one of two major milestones students must reach throughout the course of a doctoral degree. The second is finishing the dissertation.
In addition to a substantial raft of applied statistics in his time at Tech, Ryan learned that the conventional path in academic economics was not for him. Unfortunately, much of what counts in academia for economics is highly mathematized, causing it to be irreparably detached from reality. To continue to provide useful, practical insights from the economic point of view, Ryan became an Authorized Infinite Banking Concept (IBC) Practitioner through the Nelson Nash Institute.
As an Authorized IBC Practitioner and CEO of Griggs Capital Strategies, Ryan provides unique, expert-level economic, financial strategy and hand-crafted, dividend-paying whole life insurance policy design for policies offered by select mutual life insurance companies. In contrast to most in the financial community, Ryan focuses exclusively on the provision of and economic justification behind the Infinite Banking Concept and optimal use of dividend-paying whole life insurance.
Ryan is from Redlands, CA – about an hour and fifteen minutes east of Los Angeles. In his free time, Ryan serves as a Court-Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for youth removed from their homes by Child Protective Services in Lubbock, TX. You can find him on a Sunday afternoon, lounging at a coffee shop after Sunday church services, with a book that is probably too serious for weekend reading.
